I don't ever expect to transfer everything - nor do I want to - that's why I have my turntable - I can always just throw the record on - for real.īut using a piece of software that costs less than my record brush vs some of the other "tried and true" tools of the trade - is not for me. It's about the challenge and enjoyment of getting the very best transfer of a vinyl record that will never appear on CD and then enjoying it digitally in all it's glory - for the first time in a very long time. But of the time that I do have - it's never been about "quantity or volume" for me. It could do true 24-bit which would actually be an improvement over Audacity (for Windows) if so.Ĭlick to expand.I think I speak for many of us when I say we don't have time. If I wanted an Audacity replacement for Windows that's tailored for needledroppers, on the other hand, perhaps I'd consider it - but I didn't test recording. But CR is really a hard product to beat, especially at its $40 price point - and so far I see no evidence that this VinylStudio meets or exceeds CR. I'd give samples, but the trial version won't actually let me save the filtering, only do previews. But on CR, less surface noise and NO audible distortions. But the kicker was the playback - on the 65k fix VinylStudio file, not only was there still some audible surface noise, but I could hear some distortions as well. And it ran significantly longer than VinylStudio. Then I took one original track (not all five) and imported that into CR and ran it at 30/30, which would be about right for this noisy track. The first fixed 32k defects over five files, and the second fixed 65k defects. I tried two settings in VinylStudio - first was the defaults, and then I used a much higher setting. I actually tested a very noisy copy of "Beatles 65", which I had recently dropped. Until I found ClickRepair, I had found that all the audio cleaners I had ever used were lacking - either you had to drop the settings so low as to keep some pops/clicks, or you had to live with some audio distortion. This could be, for example, an Audacity replacement tool for editing if one is willing to cough up 30 bucks and if you don't use the audio cleanup, or require any VST plugins. Also, it supports 24/96 FLAC output, which would be important to me. It takes the CD/LP times and makes a best guess and then you can tweak the markers as needed. The good: It supports external files that you can import (24/96 WAV, in this case), it supports MusicBrainz which I happen to use, and it combines this with importing the DB information directly into the file. First off, keep in mind that I use ClickRepair and Audacity as my tools for recording/washing/editing/saving. So please get in touch with us, I'm sure we can help you (we need to now what audio hardware you 12Oct21: This customer never got back to me so there's really nothing I can do to address this, sadly.Ok, here's a quick review of this software. I don't recall hearing from you - we do respond to all feedback. I have emailed the support helpline with no response. I have searched everywhere I can and looked on the tutorials but there is not anything that helps. It picks up the sound immediately but the record level is set too high and distorts, it does not give you the option to adjust the level as the adjustment slider is greyed out and does not move? Extremely frustrating. I have connected it directly to my mac via the output from my mixer (also tried it directly from my amp) into the USB port of my mac. I recently paid for this app and downloaded it on to my mac Laptop. Power users might also consider VinylStudio Pro, which is also available on the App Store.
