Adam follows the clues, only to be thrust into a plot far greater than an unsolved murder-a political conspiracy that has been boiling for decades-one that threatens the entire country. But more disturbing are the clues about his sister's murder that an anonymous sender dangles just out of reach. He struggles with the grueling course load-a task better suited for those equipped with neural implants. The tragedy of flight TE901 was a shock for New Zealand, affecting almost. His excitement quickly wanes when he witnesses harassment and anti-Semitism go unpunished. On 28 November 1979, a sightseeing aircraft carrying 257 people crashed head-on into the side of a volcano in Antarctica. He applies and is admitted to Arcadia: one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the country. Twelve-year-old Adam Carter longs to escape the starkly downtrodden town he calls home, and shake the painful memories of his sister's recent murder. The killers leave little evidence, and they never appear on the massive, nationwide surveillance system. September 2067, Cammalot, SC: two raggedly dressed boys murder a high school girl outside a small town. Current planning sees them being taken onboard the FPV Pharos for launch into the circumpolar current at a point north of South Georgia - or one that would give them the best start possible.September 2065, Boston, MA: two raggedly dressed boys murder a middle-aged man in his suburban backyard. With the support of our resident hydrographic expert (Gerry Quinn (RN Hydrographer & Survey Ops Manager Rtd.) and Metocean support for Woods Hole Group we have been able to plan a logical route that will maximise the time we spend in the Circumpolar current.įollowing approval from the South Georgia Government, we will be sending the ships down to the Falklands for December this year. As well as the historical component in our attempt to recreate the Ross expedition, we are also currently discussing the possibility of adding a scientific component to the journey and are looking at options for taking measurements of temperature, wave height and other sensors to collate valuable information. HMS Erebus and HMS Terror will be made of wood and will avoid using plastics as far as practicable. These men were heroes - heroes in the highest sense of the word.” - Roald Amundsen (1912) on the Ross Expedition These men sailed right into the heart of the pack, which all previous explorers had regarded as certain death. There were 66 crew on HMS Erebus (under Captain James Clark Ross – Ollie), and 62 on HMS Terror (under Commander Francis Crozier – Harry) “Few people of the present day are capable of rightly appreciating this heroic deed, this brilliant proof of human courage and energy. Or you can simply make a donation to the adventure to help with the boat costs with any excess going directly to support the continued protection and research on the two ships. For “officer” donations you will be assigned an actual named officer and a small wooden figure will be attached with your name onto the boats. A salary donation will secure you a position on the crew on either Erebus or Terror. Everyone is invited to donate to the cause based on the actual annual salary of the crew in 1840. To help cover the costs of the tracking and logistics we have come up with a fun way to raise the funds needed. For more details of how to get involved, or to make a donation to this amazing adventure and worthy cause please visit: The indigenous communtiy work closely with both Parks Canada to protect and conserve the two wreck sites. All funds raised beyond what is required for the equipment and logistics costs will be donated to support the works of the Franklin Interim Advisory Committee (FIAC) and the Inuit Guardians based on King Edwards Island, Nunavut. They have done this in a novel way by recruiting crew for the Antarctic Circumpolar Adventure. The boys have crowdfunded this adventure to help cover the costs of the solar trackers and satellite time. The boats will set out together on this epic journey each armed with a solar tracker that will keep the batteries charged despite the freezing temperatures. Using scaled replicas of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror they will drift through four different oceans: Indian, Southern Atlantic, Southern Pacific and Southern Oceans, a journey of over 20,000 km. At less than a metre long their boats will have their work cut out for them as they try to emulate the last (and greatest) polar expedition ever undertaken by sail, the 1839 Ross Expedition. They are going to undertake this adventure using the smallest boats to ever sail in the southern oceans. Entitled Project Erebus, the challenge is to circumnavigate the globe through the Southern oceans by following the Circumpolar current around the coastline of Antarctica. The boys are undertaking their most ambitious seafaring project to date. A 20,000 km circumnavigation attempt of the harshest oceans on the planet. Ollie and Harry are reimagining the greatest polar expedition ever undertaken by sail.
